Our mission is to build engaged, dynamic, inclusive and healthy movement arts projects and programs on Cape Cod by supporting all aspects of teaching, research and outreach activities in the movement arts. Through collaborative, multicultural and accessible dialogue and discovery practices between an interested public & regional professionals, we seek to strengthen whole-body health and creativity in all individuals, particularly those who are at-risk and/or underserved.

Our Board Members

André has been practicing Capoeira for over 20 years under Capoeira Master, Mestre Kinha from Capoeira Besouro Hawaii. He is the owner and founder of Capoeira Besouro Cape Cod. CBCC has been on the Cape offering year-round classes for kids and adults for over six years. CBCC is one of the startup programs for MACC. 

André has been a special education teacher assistant at Truro Central School for the past 5 years. Currently, he is enrolled at Bridgewater State University pursuing a Special Education Bachelor’s Degree.

Nate was born and raised in Eastham, MA. Although he has moved off of Cape Cod, he has many friends and family in the area and still calls it home. Nate has served his community for over 15 years at a nonprofit that provides housing support to adults with developmental disabilities. Nate is also working towards a Master’s degree in Public Administration at Bridgewater State University with a concentration in Nonprofit Leadership.

Nate believes strongly in the core beliefs of MACC. He believes in the positive impact that physical activity plays in the health and well-being of not just the individual, but the community as a whole.

Alicia Carroll graduated from Bishop Connolly High School(1986) in Fall River, MA before graduating from Lesley University (2001) with a Bachelor of Science in Dance Therapy and Creative Arts in Early Childhood. Today, alongside her sister Catherine Spivey, she serves as the general manager of The Bayside Restaurant — a beloved, family-owned establishment on Horseneck Beach in Westport, MA that has been part of the community for over 51 years. Beginning with their parents in the 90s,The Bayside became a pioneer in sustainable practices, earning the distinction of being the first “Certified Green Restaurant” in the Commonwealth.

Alicia is passionate about fostering connection and community, living by her motto: “Eat More, Drink More, Love More.” Her dedication to helping others extends beyond the restaurant, with extensive experience in substance abuse recovery. She firmly believes that by lifting others up, we elevate ourselves.

Her love for Dance, Authentic Movement, Capoeira, and wide-open beaches led her to CapeCod, where she has built a life rooted in creativity and compassion. Alicia is also a founding member ofMovement Arts Cape Cod— a nonprofit that connects movement artists across the Cape. This past year, she had the pleasure of accompanying Andre Lima to Cape Cod Village onFunday Mondays, where they led a movement class with the residents. Whether through her work in the community or the inspiration she finds in her two children,Rye and Phoenix, Alicia continues to be guided by a deep sense of purpose and connection.

Dr. Abbott has been a Licensed, registered physical therapist since 1978. He began practicing at Edward Hines VAMC from 1978-1981.

He has been delivering care to the Cape and Islands since 1981. Areas of specialty include severely, physically challenged children and adults, public health, academic based delivery of services, specialized custom medical equipment and home modification consultant.

Dr. Abbott is a USCG licensed Captain and a Massachusetts Justice of the Peace.
